If you have a limited budget, then you should pick a hotel according to the price but not just that. Sometimes its better to pay a little more to save more later in terms of security, theft and other trouble. Here are a list of some of the things to look out for the next time you decide on a hotel:
- Even if you are reserving a room through an online company, go to a local agent and ask them about the hotel you are planning to stay at. Don't tell them that you will book online, but also compare the prices. Sometimes, its better to pay a few dollars more to a local agent who has been to the hotel than to an online agency. Remember that local agents are available when problems arise but online ones are hard to locate and even then you will be talking to a customer service person who doesn't know you or your problem.
- Try and look for reviews written about hotels you are interested in residing at independent reviewers such as that supplied by Yahoo.
- Check out the facilities that the hotel offers and decide which are the ones that best meet your needs. By this I mean that if you have a child then you will need a room that's quiet.
- Look at the hotels' location and its proximity to bus and train stations as well as major attractions. While the closer a hotel is to a major attraction the higher the price. Sometimes its worth paying a little more to the hotel than spending hours in traffic.
